How is it possible to keep yourself in a positive state with all that’s going on in the world right now? If you watch the news, do you ever get pulled into the undertow? Or are you one of those who can smile no matter what and make rainbows and iridescent bubbles appear everywhere you go? It may be possible that you’re somewhere in the middle.
Here are the Five Keys
You may begin to contemplate the worst, but then you have the kind of mind that doesn’t stay there. You can move your mind to a higher plane after paying attention to the doom thoughts first. You can transcend the quicksand’s pull and move to higher ground. One way to do this is to observe your thoughts and feelings from the state of the witness and then ask this healing question: “What would my Wise Mind tell me about this?” Almost inevitably, you will be led to an oasis of transformational thinking that will help you to view the siltation from a higher perspective.
Something else you can do is to use a new kind of affirmation. This idea is from Noah St. John in his recent book, The Secret Code of Success. Instead of sticking with your negative thought, shift it around a bit. Say, “Why am I so…?”(Pick a positive state – like rich, happy, loved, loving – or whatever positive state you’re drawn to.) Write it down twice a day. Write down a whole list and keep shifting your thoughts.
You can also view events that take place as opportunities for learning and enlightenment. Seeing the advantage of everything is a way to have a happy life, no matter what is taking place. Years ago, when I didn’t have a place to live for a while, a poet came up to me and said, “Since my house burned down, now I have a better view of the rising moon.” There are spiritual gifts in everything, and the moment you see everything from the point of view of the mountaintop, you can look to the essential truths of transformation inherent in all things and events.
Some sages and prophets see in our times, that we are entering the Golden Age of life on earth and that the challenging events of our time are but the cleansing of all life on this planet. Because the light is growing stronger, it reveals the gremlins and dark spaces that are in the process of moving away.
Eckhart Tolle says that he’s fine no matter what happens. The secret to his equanimity and happiness is this “I accept things as they are.”
YOU DID IT AGAIN! What a great weblog. I am now spending most of my time with Bill Bartmann, the man who was $1 million in debt and bankrupt in 1988, borrowed $13,000 and bought his first box of bad loans during the savings and loan crisis. He became the 15th weathest man in America according to Forbes! I actually a now part of his faculty. He teaches people how to overcome adverstity and rebuild their self esteem and self image before they create a new business. We are teaching them to buy bad assets during this crisis.
Love you very much and send good thoughts and positive energy

Thank you for sharing your gift of wisdom. I love the Eckhart Tolle quote reminding us to “accept things as they are.” Such wisdom in that!
I started a new business, PeaceMeditation.com, in which I provide easy-to-clean meditation cushions for meditation practitioners. The technique, “What does my Wise Mind have to say about this or that is very helpful.” Thank you.
Love and blessings,

Excellent posting on the five keys to staying positive, especially in difficult economic times. Many of us need to remind ourselves of these lessons over and over again.
Take care.
Great reminders, Marilyn. May I also add two that I like. 1. make a “gratitude” list and 2. meditate daily. We in the US are, in general , blessed with so much that we take for granted. Remembering that sometimes helps. Also, meditation allows me to maintain a more peaceful outlook and often have wonderful insights.
I agree that we are on the verge a a time of peace and love – a golden age. We will grow immensely in response to our challenges.
Thanks for your continuing inspiration and encouragement
