There is a place within each person that is totally whole and complete. That’s where we go in Spiritual Hypnosis—right to the place of love and wisdom to transform all the other parts of the self. When you or your clients make that spiritual connection and find the place of perfect wholeness, fears fall away, anger turns to compassion, habits shift, and old traumas are transformed.
How I Found My Way to Spiritual Hypnosis
In 1970, someone suggested I go to a yoga class. I needed something. I was a burnt-out, frazzled ex-English teacher, and I desperately needed to find some peace. I went to a building that smelled of fresh-baked bread, incense and sweet wood, and I climbed the stairs to an upper room full of spacious windows and green vibrant plants. We did yoga postures, and then we did something that changed my life forever; we relaxed so deeply, that I was transported into another state of consciousness. I had never been able to relax this way before. It soothed my raw nerves, but it also did much more. It altered my vision, my perspective. It pointed me inward to my own essence. And it ultimately led me to the great path of Spiritual Hypnosis.
A Precursor to Progressive Relaxation
Years later, I found out that the relaxation that we did in yoga class was called “progressive relaxation” in the hypnosis world, and I found that not only would it lead me and others into deeply intoxicating states of consciousness, but it would have practical applications that could heal and transform people to their very core.
Everyone Has This Strong Inner Core
I eventually realized that through Spiritual Hypnosis, I could assist people to find the strength to overcome their challenges—as it had helped me. I came to know that everyone has the qualities of love, wisdom, and strength. I realized that it’s a natural state of elevated consciousness, a natural high of love and power that everyone is looking for and is most often trying to find in outward ways—looking for the sweetness of love in sweet food—or for the closeness in a relationship—or for the re-experience of that original state in drugs or alcohol. I found out that the loss of this state is experienced as loneliness, abandonment, depression and lack of love. Underneath all the problems of life, underneath the anger, illness, grief, or feeling of unworthiness, there is this spiritual power that can heal. Most adult problems stem from lack of contact with the inner experience of essence, but fortunately we do have the fundamental capacity for healing, and that is what Spiritual Hypnosis is about.
Transforming Old Conditioning
Healing pain, stress, fear and abuse is not always about seeking external solutions or palliatives. It is about remembering this deep inner core that has been covered over by layer after layer of worldly experience, conditioning and personality. While therapy is often about examining the issues of the personality, inner healing or Spiritual Hypnosis is about going directly to the place of love and understanding and from this place dissolving the barriers that are in the way of self- knowledge. It is about peeling off the layers of life experiences and revealing your essence to yourself once again.
Shining the Light of Consciousness
When you free this essence, then other parts of you—weaker, disenfranchised part of your personality—are seen in a new way. When you shine a light on these places, the illumination changes them. Sometimes the light disintegrates the weaker parts and they disappear—but more often, it makes them whole. The process is not “therapy”—but a return to who you really are. Spiritual Hypnosis can set into motion the process for healing all parts of the self, especially fears, anger, grief, weakness, habits, challenges and more.
Spiritual Hypnosis Combines All Levels of Consciousness
There are different levels of mind in which we function, the subconscious, the conscious, the energy system and the higher self.
Your subconscious mind is like Google, a universal search engine in which all the “documents” of your life are kept in searchable files. This includes losses, habits, and traumas, and it also includes subpersonalities like the inner child. You can put it on “search mode” and find out many answers to your life’s questions – like “Why do I keep on doing this thing that I don’t want to do – over and over again?”
The Transformation System of the Universe
The superconscious mind is just the opposite. It’s your higher self or Wise Mind, and it’s the transformation system of the universe. The qualities of this state – wisdom, love, peace, light, forgiveness, and enlightenment – are gifts given to you to help you to become your greatest self. The superconscious state goes above and beyond every other feeling, thought, pattern, or tendency in your body and mind, and your awareness of it shifts the very core of your life itself.
Getting in touch with your superconscious returns you to wholeness and is the basis of prayer, meditation, transformational healing, and Spiritual Hypnosis. It is ultimately practical, as it consistently reminds you of the wholeness that’s at the core of your being and that we can consistently return to for comfort and peace. Spiritual Hypnosis is the perfect vehicle for embracing the natural, powerful, innate healing system of the universe. It provides the tools to look within and find the timeless truths of existence that constitute the healing power.
